I'm struggling to integrate my content analysis into my personal interest project. Is there any evidence from past PIPs on how to integrate a textual content analysis into the PIP?
My PIP question is 'An investigation into the prevalence of masculine-centred fanfiction in television based fandoms' - I was considering talking about the themes and the way the writer positions the audience and subverts male-centric narratives in the original media, but I'm worried it'll turn into an English essay if I do, or I'll just do it wrong.

Any advice?

I just looked at my PIP and apparently I did content analysis lol I forgot. I analysed a monologue from Barbie in this sooo maybe similar

This is what I said in my log
"This paralleled my examination of Barbie and Gloria’s monologue, serving as a lens through which societal expectations of women were critiqued."

this is a bit from my chapter with it if it helps??

In contrast, Greta Gerwig’s film “Barbie” is a comment on the “cognitive dissonance required to be a woman under the patriarchy,”48 where women manage conflicting messages, demands, and expectations to conform to society’s predominant gender role. In particular, the character Gloria recites a monologue that highlights the complex and contradictory societal expectations placed on women. Through this monologue, the immense pressure to conform to unrealistic standards of beauty, behaviour, and success is communicated. Gloria states, “You have to be thin, but not too thin, “always stand out and always be grateful,” and “never get old.”49 This is reflective of responses in Questionnaire 2, where women recorded feelings relating to the expectation to be ‘thin’ and ‘beautiful in appearance;’“I feel I’m expected to always look my best and wear makeup.”50 Thus, Gloria’s monologue shows the unrealistic expectations placed on women......... Thus, 57% of women state the “Barbie” movie is an accurate representation that stimulated their awareness of the pressures of being a woman within a patriarchal society.

Maybe you could like quantify the amount of times a theme is used, or a specific tag is used? then analyse this and the implications. Synthesise this with other primary research. maybe just having a clear focus on the writing style of SAC and incorporating terms etc. rather than english analysis. look at the ways other people have done content analysis and try to adapt it with your topic?

Thank you hsccccc you're literally my hero.. I appreciate it so much!! Good idea with quantifying a theme, I've already done something similar w/ looking at what each work says about masculinity but I'll definitely consider that in further depth.
