I think usually with science you wanna be certain like “this will happen” or “if ___ then this would happen”.
Only time id think to use low modality is in those society and culture-like chemistry questions like economic benefits then you might say “this could potentially create more jobs” or something

I don't do chem but yeah I think for sciences u should aim for high modality

For humanities it's better to use low modality because things are typically less absolute

I don't think it really matters as long as you are using scientific terminology and you are coherent.
