So disappointing... No cohesion between players 😭 why on earth did they pick Cleary with his injuries
By far one of the worst NSW performances I've seen. They were disorgansed, poorly coached and just had no answers in attack whatsoever. Queensland (who dont have the calibre of players that NSW does) were organised, they had a plan and executed.

I'm a ride or die for NSW but this is the first time Im questioning my love for them. During the 8 in a row years, it was tough being a fan but realistically, the teams played well the fact was they didn't have the halves and were facing a generational Queensland team. Over the past say 5-6 years, with the exception of Madge you could say the coaching was awful. You think that with the Madge experience, they would have learned to go with a proper, proven coach. That's why to me the decision to go back to Laurie Daley, who lost 4/5 series and hasnt done any coaching since is just baffling. It was almost as if NSWRL just didnt give a shit and picked the first person available, despite the fact that they have proven they couldnt do the job. The difference in coaching was clearly on display. This was self-sabotage by NSW in going back to Laurie Daley, especially after the masterclass from Madge last year. If they dont get rid of him Im not even going to bother watching next year.

I think NSWRL needs a cleanout and a proper coaching staff assembled - one with proven experience (not brain dead dropkicks like Fittler or never-has-beens like Daley). I also do think the questions around Cleary need answering. Poor coaching or not, a champion player should have been able to get NSW to a winning position over an inferior Queensland Team. I think maybe next year they go with a Moses/Katoa combo and sit Cleary.

I will say one other thing, if Queensland had a side like NSW, they would probably have won every series since 2020. Like they say, Queensland get origin, NSW have their head in their ass.

Yeah, Moses came up a bit in post match discussion here... I haven't seen replays yet but can you remember any more than one point Cleary was good? I completely forgot he was on the field???

And don't get me started on our end of set plays (or kicks) It was like watching the knights play, it was that bad... You're on the money with the attacking stuff, how on earth could none of our players come up with something!!! And when people tried things? No cohesion.

Another thing I hated was our backwards offloads/just running backwards. Stop doing it. Run at the line and yeah, maybe you'll get smashed, but we mustve lost 30+ metres that one time, honestly!!!

It's a mystery to me because he is an absolute gun at club level, but with Origin he cant get it done. Maybe it's the Penrith system and he thrives in that structure.

There was no plan, no set plays so all they were doing was improvising. The only player with spark was Latrell Mitchell. Whereas you look at Queensland and they had a plan, they were rushing NSW attacking line and preventing their forwards from getting rhythm. Billy Slater had a gameplan and he brought in the players he needed to execute it.

You look last year at NSW and Madge had them organised and disciplined - the game plan was smash them up the middle and open space for the halves. I mean, this year same team different result. I put that down largely to coaching, Laurie Daley just put the team together and expected them to work it out. Brad Fittler was the same, he just got the players together and expected them to win on talent with no plan. Daley was the same when he last coached them as well.

That's what's infuriating - NSW are a hard team to support but in the past at least you could say there were decent reasons for why they lost. But after years of rubbish coaching from Daley/Fittler produced crap results, they hired a proper coach which finally got the best out of the team (game 3 2024 was probably the best NSW performance of my lifetime). To just completely go backwards and returning to a clearly failed concept under Daley just shows how inept NSWRL are and why a cleanout needs to occur.
