Is it really too much work? minimum how many hours does everyone do (just for ext 2)?
I think the effort would be dependent on how good your foundation is since maths extension 1 would be using knowledge and skills from advanced or earlier years. Similarly extension 2 would be using knowledge from advanced and extension 1 (hence nothing such as 'extension 2 only')
For example if you learn maths induction the concept can probably be taught in 1 hour or even less. But practically it would be hugely dependant on your algebra skills ,factorisation and also the familiarity with factorial manipulations to solve the problems correctly and efficiently. This is a good example of "I get it and understand in class but why I cannot do well in exams or make the so-called silly mistakes"
Similarly for complex numbers it would be dependent on your foundation on earlier topics such as trig, polynomials, vectors, geometry/circle geometry and of course algebraic manipulations.
For students with weaker foundation one would need to revisit these "prerequisite topics" to properly prepare and learn the new topic.
