Nah rank 1 did well, but my friend just did better. The whole cohort did very well, actually

As for how common it is, I'm not sure! But it seems that it's not extremely rare

It's probably not all that rare at higher ranked schools especially selectives since cohorts tend to be tighter at the high end, whereas at other schools it's more likely that first place is an outlier
It entirely depends on how close together 1st and 2nd are! Also, it's possible that 1st just barely missed out on the rank e.g. 2nd came 10th in the state

anyways is anybody else cooked for chemistry

How close are you to rank ?Like are you rank 2 by a difference of 1 mark per instance? I recall from 2023, the guy who got 1st in English Advanced ranked 3rd internally at NSB. I'm assuming there was not much of a difference betwen the ranks' respective distances. All this to say, is that rank is less important than rank distance. If at X high school, the difference between rank 1 and rank 200 (bottom rank) was 10 marks, and anyone within the cohort gets 100/100 in the external exam, all ranks 1-200 will get an assessment mark somewhere between 90 and 100 (you keep your exam mark).
our cohort is really small. in terms of that specific subject theres only 6 people...
between me (i'm rank 2) and rank one i think it's 1 or 2 marks no more than 5. top 3 only differ by a couple marks, it's always a constant shift between the three of us after every exam. but yeah cumulatively i'm rank 2
