Yea but the thing is that their gonna cover the harder stuff in logs for that workshop and if I don’t know the basics I’m gonna struggle even more
Things involving logs arethe same concept every time. As long as you get change of base formula (maybe not even necessary w/ new calculators) and integration/differentiation of non-natural logs you’ll be okay.

sing it with me guys
🎵we're cooked but it's fine 'cause we live laugh love🎵
I did the most, I gave my all
You did it to me like you've played this game before
I did the most, I gave my all
You did it to me like you've played this game before
You did it to me like you've played this game before
You did it to me like you've played this game before

ah, throw hands in the air
Swear I can't bring that ass anywhere
You don't wanna fling, bring that ass over here
Boy, feelin' like a contest, how you wanna stare
Your attention span prolly long as your hair, too
If you're true, why you gotta dare, boo?
Some win and some gotta lose
You really need love, two L's, no cool
It is not me, nor them, just you
Acting like a fiend and the perp gon' shoot
Act seventeen when you're thirty-two
Pussy too clean and it purty too
So I can't intervene on your escapades
'Cause I ain't really tryna be the next to pay
And be the next to say, "I got an ex today"
I can see it in your eyes when you flex your games and shit (Yeah)

I’ve been trying not to memorise an essay for Common Mod (eng adv) but my improvised essays always come out so shitty! In trials my memorised Common Mod essay scored the least at 14/20 when my others were all at least 16/20.
I wanna give up because I hate our prescribed text so bad (1984) but genuinely what do I even do? Should I just memorise a mid essay so I can use it for anything? Should I made like a bunch of modular building blocks of analysis and piece them together? Ughh
what feedback has your teacher given in trials on the essay? if it was more about not relating to the question, i dont think the essay is the problem, but rather practice adapting it to a variety of practice questions. if the feedback was on the actual analysis, you would need to refine that and then follow a similar study appraoch of practicing to adapt it.
bruh i wish my school did 1984! we literally do vertigo which i have genuinly not heard of any other school doing and there are like no online resources on it!

nah not really. from what ive learnt its just basic log fundamentals. You will be learning how to diff and integrate log functions though and its also involved in stuff like geometric series, financial math and rates

Dude 1984 is like a toxic relationship... I hate studying for it but I can’t stop because I’m so pedantic :angryfire:
My teacher’s feedback was that I retell too much and don’t cover audience, context and purpose enough. additionally i need to analyse form more comprehensively (which is really hard for 1984 because Orwell gives us FKN NOTHING). So my analysis is pretty weak I guess. I just brainstormed a bunch of my thoughts and organised them, so I now have a more organised plan to analyse the essay. I have 4 body paragraphs about diff ideas and maybe I’ll try to analyse and assemble them in a way that fits whatever question.
I struggle to look at my old pre-prepped essay bc its so bad but now I think I can rewrite a better one and hope the HSC question fits what I have??

Is 1984 really that bad. Well I’m doing that for common mod lol
It’s not a bad book and was even a bit of a page turner on my first read! The literary techniques are just not very obvious and also hard to explain compared to those in poetry or Shakespearean plays. It’s mainly the fact that it’s Common Mod that makes it so hard for me, because I CANNOT STAND the Common Mod essay questions.

yeah fair, I didn't know 1984 was a common mod text until one of my friends told me - it feels more like an eng ext worlds of upheaval text than smth in human experiences imo

great book! how suitable it is for this module is another question...

Exactly. Like I’m sorry but all we can do is frame the human experience in the lens of the totalitarian dystopia world of 1984, which doesn’t make for a fantastic argument

I’d go with the building block one

maybe it is!! I personally feel like it's very hard to make high schoolers write about a totalitarian regime where the vast majority of us would have never experienced it and can't fathom its restriction, so I feel that many arguments would end up being shallow, but I suppose the whole point of the module is to reveal new insights to the student
it's certainly got collective and individual experiences though! I'm sure there are great arguments and points to be made hehe

I read the book a while ago so I don't entirely remember it

How was it for you?
umm tbh it wasnt horrible but not great. I definitely did not perform as well as I could have bc of numerous factors (obv my fault like I applied SO late...) and I ended up overwriting for the first task which took up my time, and I didn't write as much for the second )): But I'm hoping my writing style can save me 😭 idk the more I think abt it I keep worrying that my work wasnt good enough

Well that’s good that ur not stressed. At least for me I perform much better when I’m calm than when I’m stressed
