Idk how the categories work and if there are very active moderators but I've been on a here a few times and it always bugged me that the text categories are outdated - it doesn't include creative non fiction. Based on its frequency in the Young Writers Showcase it seems more and more people are choosing that medium (my major work was CNF) so it would be helpful to have specific subsection dedicated to it.

I'm not all that knowledgeable about EE2, so bear with me for a second... Which of the current categories are "text" categories, all of them?

With that out of the way, onto the improvements:
  • What would your ideal forum categories be?
    • Should any of the current ones be removed?
    • Would you want any others besides creative non-fiction to be added?
If you're reading this, and you're not OP, feel free to chime in. I'm sure there are some other EE2 people with opinions on this.
I'd love to hear your thoughts :) 💜

The "text" categories I'm guessing are the ones that align with different accepted mediums for the major work, so as of now we have Short Stories, Critical Responses, Poetry, 'Scripts, Speeches & Radio Dramas' and 'Video, Multimedia, and Film'.

A lot of them have already been covered but ig the main issue is that a lot of the grouped categories don't really fit together, script and speeches shouldn't really be together, since they're two very different forms tbh, they should probably get their own separate categories. Radio Dramas are just a form of scripts as well.

a category for logbooks and another for the reflection statement would be really useful imo cause I've seen someone already ask about the logbook and it didn't really have its own place when its a really consistent part of the subject and reflection statement is also a major component that should probably have a category because it requires a different set of skills and is a different form to the creative texts

You can see the mediums on the syllabus

By categories I just meant the mediums specified in the syllabus, one of which each major work has to conform to (and be justified in choosing through research in form). Subcategories however would probably work since they are quite broad when it comes to videos and audio. There is "Multimedia", as well as " Podcasts – drama, storytelling, speeches, performance poetry" and "scripts". Should probably just be organised by the syllabus for simplicity.
