Hello, is it true that your final ATAR is 50% of your moderated internal marks and 50% of your external marks? Because I have read that only your ranks matter, not your assessment mark for internals and that rank determines what your mark is for your external. But I have also heard that they take the average of your moderated assessment mark and your external as well, so wondering which one is true.
Thank you

I think the first option is correct cause my year advisor and a bunch of other people said that raw internal marks don’t matter. But yeah it is quite confusing and someone should make a guide on how this works, if there isn’t a guide already

Hmm, the Matrix Education guide says that it is the 2nd option but I am deathly hoping that it is not true because I have also completely bombed my first Chemistry exam and it is worrying me a lot 🫠.

I’m reading the matrix guide and it does say that they use the moderated school mark but I think the moderated school assessment mark is determined by how the cohort does on the hsc exam and ur rank

Oh that really is a relief 🥲🥲. I know that my expected 60% in Chemistry is not going to get me anywhere...

if you really think about it, them using your moderated assessment mark and external is a bit unreasonable. some schools make their papers really hard so internally, good students may score low but in the actual hsc they get really high.
its unfair if their low marks were not moderated in any way because if it was like that, students who may have gotten higher in their internals because they had easier papers but got worse in the hsc will be considered more competent and get a higher atar than those who got low internally but higher in the hsc.

But she’s talking about moderating ur school based mark for the second option. So if ur school marks harsh they would moderate ur raw marks up
