basically what the title says, im just curious to know
if ur talking abt internals, internal average does NOT matter as in the INTERNAL MARK you receive. It's only the ranks and gaps between the ranks that matter. If top 5 are getting 90s internal mark and they all get scaled 70s in hsc, ur internal mark does not do anything. It's just the ranks & gaps. Look, if 1st is getting 70s then what is everyone else getting? Everyone should be putting in lots of more work including 1st.
AND just note - u guys have only completed ur first internal task, so dont stress, still lots of more time to improve for everyone. highest mark being in the 70s COULD also mean that ur school marks harsher, or the students are just at that level if teachers mark normally.
It all depends on ur ranks and marks in the actual HSC.
Whilst im not too sure as to what happens if first gets a very low mark in the HSC compared to everyone else, I'll explain according to what I do know. I THINK in the hsc if the top students including first get lower marks (compared to how the state goes), it impacts how 'high' scaling is for everyone underneath.
