yeah so take a lot at the key. you have two types of semicircles. doesnt speciify which gamete is which just yet. But once you look at the flowchart, you see sperm is drawn in one orientation (the one on the right of the key) and egg drawn with the other. So look at individual 1 - they got the egg - so a mother. then look at individual 2 - look at cell X - its the egg gamete. thus since it contains an egg gamete - must be a female. Thus daughter

the key doesn't specify sooooo I don't think it's fair if they take off a mark for not assuming what the orientation of the circles means :blink2:

Kinda upset with my MCQ I’m just hoping that the rest of my answers will carry. I spent a lot of time on each one (esp for compare, wrote a lot) and thought it was overkill but looking back now I’m glad I did (had abt 10mins at the end oops). I’m hoping for a raw mark of 90 but it’s hard to tell without answer sheet

I also really loved the following question in the exam, one of the best 2 markers ever in bio hsc. so simple yet really really testing working scientifically skills. this will be differentiator for sureView attachment 50025
was i the only person lost enough to say that they were the same person :biglaugh:

Guys you see for question 30a, I talked about the rDNA tech and described its process, but then for 30b I used examples like insulin and aquaadvantage salmon and specified the specifc genes but then said refer to previous question for rDNA tech procedure. Do you think that's fine? Cause they surely didn't expect us to outline the procedure twice right?

YEP totally fine. Question 30 b) did not require to go to detailed into the processes - so as long as you just linked eveything to the statment and ur judgment should be fine. good luck!!!

I don’t think you had to link back to the previous right? If it did surely it’d say that in the question. I just think because they’re both genetic technologies they became a part of the same q right? Uhhhhh

No you didn't have to link to the previous question but I used an example of rDNA tech as a genetic technology and just wrote refer to previous question. Cause normally when we do questions like that, my school makes us use examples of processes so i was just wondering.
